Cataracts

Some of you may know that cataracts run in Chris's side of the family. Chris was born with them and Torin may have been barn with them but it was not noticed until he was 18 months old.
Cataracts clouding the eye's natural lens usually are associated with aging processes. But congenital cataracts occur in newborn babies for many reasons that can include inherited tendencies, infection, metabolic problems, diabetes, trauma, inflammation or drug reactions. For more in depth information on cataracts, click HERE.
This is a picture of Torin's eyes, I do not see the cataracts (though the doctor can). They are not affecting his vision at this time so he just gets monitored by an ophthalmologist every six months to see if they have grown.
After Gavin was born, the pediatrician noticed some clouding in his eyes and suggested we take him to see an ophthalmologist. Here is a picture of Gavin's eyes. If you blow up the picture you can see the clouding in the center of his eyes-and it is pretty substantial.
He is scheduled for surgery on May 12th and 19th to have his lenses removed. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as his surgery approaches.

This is just a picture of Torin passed out during a nap.
And this is a picture of my boys. How I love them.

The screen behind shows his weight.

Waiting

Here is the update with the baby:
I am dilated to a 3 and the baby has dropped some but that is the only new info. I am scheduled to be induced on the 20th now(which is Monday) but I go in on Sunday night. They are going to give me some medicine to ripen the cervix which my doctor thinks will put me into labor. If this does not happen, she will put me on Pitocin on Monday morning.
Here is a picture of me at 38 weeks and 2 days. I think that my face is starting to swell as well as my butt!As I wait for this baby to make his appearance I thought that I would share some pictures of Torin. Torin has really picked up on coloring. He likes to do it when I am on the computer which is good for me when I have to get some things done.
This is just him trying to steal the camera from me.
One day after I changed his diaper, he would not get up so I just left him in his room. When I came back to check on him 10 minutes later, he was still where I left him playing with the empty wipes container. It was really cute.
Just waiting on this baby...

"New" Pictures

Chris finally got his film developed from when we went to Alaska last year. There was a roll in the camera that was half used and we had no idea what it was of. When we got the pictures back-to our surprise it was some pictures that we took the first Christmas that we were married! I thought that you might enjoy how young we looked back in 2005. We went to Wyoming for this Christmas to see Chris's (extended) family-although we have no pictures of them.Christine was also in Wyoming to visit Dave's family. We spent a few days hanging out with each other.Hailey when she was (maybe) 15 months old. She did not like being with anyone but mommy!I tried me best to change her mind though.Yea family! I think that I look so young in these pictures! Not that I am that much older now...

House Updates

This weekend proved to be a busy one. I thought to myself, "This baby is coming pretty soon, I guess I should get his room ready." That included cleaning it out (so it wasn't a storage room anymore), finish painting, get bed ready, get guest bed ready (my mom is coming after the baby is born for a week), put his dresser together, and little odds and ends. I did this all on my own on Saturday because Chris works . Needless to say, I am exhausted! Here are some pictures of the almost finished room. Still have to put in baseboards and stuff on the walls.
And here is a picture of our new light fixture in the kitchen eating area. I would have taken a picture of the whole area but it is so ugly it makes me throw up a little in my mouth. But the new fixture is nice.
I am going to go eat and then relax. Peace out.

Doc Update

I had a doctor's appointment and an ultrasound today and here are the results:
Doc's-My belly is still growing but I have not gained any weight since my last visit. I am dilated to almost a 2 and am 25% effaced. My induction has been scheduled for the 22nd but I am really hoping I go into labor on my own beforehand. I am scheduled for an induction because of the issue with the umbilical cord (I think that I mentioned it before)-it is a precaution due to growth issues and the cord deteriorating before my actual due date.
Ultrasound-baby boy looks good and is 6 lbs 14 ounces so I feel good about going into labor at any time.
Next appointment is on Tuesday.
