Chris and I were on our way to his work Christmas party on Sunday night. We were at a four way stop sign in the middle of a neighborhood. There was already a car stopped to our left with it's right turn signal on. We came to the stop sign and stopped. The other car started to turn and as it was passing us (we hadn't started to move yet) it hit the back side of us. I could not believe it! I turned to Chris and said "Did he really just hit us?". Chris turned the car around so that we could get closer to the guy so we could exchange insurance information. The problem was...he wasn't stopping! I told Chris to follow him, I mean, we just paid almost $2,000 to fix this car! He was not going to just get away!! I called 911 and they transferred me to San Marcos Police Department. I told the dispatcher what had happened and that the guy was not stopping and we were following him. I gave the description of the car and the license plate number. She told me to stay on the phone with her until an officer arrived. The driver pulled into a fire department driveway and stopped so Chris pulled up by him and I told the dispatcher that we were now stopped. A few seconds later, the guy pulled out of the driveway and keep driving! The dispatcher asked me how fast he was going-only 10 miles an hour! She said that it was really strange. We followed this guy weaving around this neighborhood for 10-15 minutes and then the guy finally came to a stop. I told the dispatcher that he stopped but he had not put the car into park and I was too scared to get out of the car. This is when the policeman showed up and I got off the phone with the dispatcher. The policeman drove up to the guy's car and pointed a light at the car. He got out, walked to the car and said "Show me your hands". All of a sudden (it happened so fast) he yelled for the guy to show his hands several more times and pulled out his gun. At this point Chris starts backing the car up to give the officer room. The officer goes up to the car and opens the door and pulls the guy out of the car and on to the ground where he jumps on him. At this point I sunk so low in the seat I could not see anything else. Three more police cars, a police SUV and an ambulance show up. They check to make sure that Chris and I are okay and explain the reason why he pulled the guy out of the car. The officer said that when he told him to show his hands, the guy in the car was rummaging through his pockets and the officer thought that he might pull out a gun and fire on him or on us. We filled out statements and they said that the report would be ready on Wednesday. I am not sure if this guy was drunk but one of the reasons (well, a couple) he did not stop was that he had no insurance, no license and was an illegal immigrant! They took him to jail that night for things other than just hitting us and not stopping and he would be deported in the next day or so.
We do not have uninsured motorist insurance so that kind of stinks. When we get the report we are going to go after the person that owns the car and hopefully they have liability insurance. If not, I guess we are SOL. But on a bright note there is very little damage and even if there is no insurance it really is not that big of a deal, it is just REALLY irritating! I also have a interesting story to tell.
This is the damage to our car. Not bad but damage nonetheless.

Everyone is okay and Torin was not with us at the time.
