For Corrine

I am posting this specifically for my friend, Corrine, who wants to know more about all the bruises on my body. She really already knows the story but I will tell it to you.
I joined a soccer league here in Cottonwood Heights. I have played soccer for 12 years competitively and have not really played since High School. I love to play and thought that it would be a good way to meet people here. It is a co-ed league so there are lots of guys and just a handful of girls that play. I am pretty bad-a at soccer and I can totally keep up with the guys, which is one thing that they really love. There is this one guy that I think has totally got a crush on me (I am not sure why-he knows nothing about me) and I am totally not interested in him. Plus, I think that he is 20. Anywho, he is a pretty good player and I can generally keep up with him. On Thursday of last week we were playing on opposing teams and he pretty much ran me over and this is what I got from it:

Now, this is why I think this kid likes me. He sent me 2 messages on the soccer website and sent me 2 text messages-I did not even give him my number!

How do you let someone know that you are not interested without hurting their feelings? I have never had this problem before!

Hope you like the picture Corrine!!

To My Friend

Happy Birthday Kim!

I am so glad that we are friends. I am so blessed to have you in my life. Thanks for being FABULOUS!!!

Still Learning...

Even after 25 years of practice, it appears that I still have problems walking. Granted, in Texas there are not as many stairs as there are here in Utah, but I have not mastered them yet. One very early morning (around 2 am) I went upstairs to get Gavin a bottle. When I was on my way back down, I slipped on one stair and slid down the rest. It was painful! My back hurt so bad. The next morning, I found this lovely bruise on my arm. I would like to blame the fact that I fell on it being so early and I was half asleep. But as it turns out, as I was coming down the stairs to give Gavin some orajel last night and I slipped again! This time it was only 9 pm. I have no excuse for this one except that I can't seem so figure out how to use the stairs. I hope to master them before winter when the stairs outside will be covered with ice!

Shrek

Torin's favorite movie is Shrek. He asks to watch it several times a day. I let him watch it once a day and I rotate through the three of them. I think that the second one is my favorite.
Anywho, the point is that I can probably recite all of the Shrek movies by heart now. And if I hear a song from the soundtrack, I can tell you which Shrek movie it is from and what scene.
Is that sad?

Also, Fiona is my least favorite character. Just thought you would like to know.

Whoa!

This morning Torin was hanging out with me in the bathroom as I was getting ready for church and he says to me, "potty". So I took off his diaper and put him on the toilet.
We have not been working on potty training at all because I did not think that he was ready yet. But since his older cousins were here a couple weeks ago and they use the potty, he has shown an interest so I put him on whenever he asks. He has yet to do anything mostly because I think that he is just mimicking his cousins.

But today he actually peed! It was so exciting-especially because I am not even trying to train him yet! He is becoming such a big boy!

Isn't it Summer?

I'm not quite sure, but I am under the impression that it is still summer. At home, in Texas, I am sure that the temperature is still around 100 degrees. Today, in Salt Lake, the high got up to 69 degrees! This is what is considered winter weather in Texas! It's August! It is the hottest month in Texas! This is absurd!! Pleasant, but absurd! So I dressed the kids in their winter clothes. I guess since we live in SLC now, I will have to buy them some real thick winter clothes.
We spent the afternoon outside and it was chilly! Here are the kids "bundled up".
